SEFHG E-News—Subscribe NowIn 2005 our committee recognized the need to keep members informed of group events in another way. The quarterly printed newsletter was just too far apart and not everyone attended the monthly meetings. We decided on an electronic format that was small and quickly emailed to those with computer access. This SEFHG E-News quickly became the portal for not only up coming events but a way of informing members of speakers for meetings and interesting web sites they might like to visit. Over 6 years it has lengthened but always kept the simple text base to save on email size for those who don't have a broadband connection. However it now incorporates regular sections including: · General Meeting— information on times, dates and guest speakers · Notice board - detailing events of interest to group members including local outings and courses or major activities in the history and genealogy field across Australia, but mainly SA and Vic. · Websites—a look at some of the latest sites of interest to family historians · Apps for iPhones, iPods and iPads– related to history and genealogy · Resources in the Centre—highlighting some resources of relevance to the speakers topic if possible · Family Tree Maker Chat—answering questions from readers regarding how to use aspects of the latest versions of the genealogical software for family historians called Family Tree Maker, · Topic of Interest - article related to family history · Opening times and fees The free E-News is only sent to those people who request a copy via an email subscription or with their group joining forms. Many people find it extremely useful and recommend it to others. You are not required to be a member of the group to subscribe and many who attend our free courses sign up for it. It is currently not archived on the website as much of the content may not be relevant a month down the track. If you are interested in receiving this very useful email which will arrive in your inbox in the middle of each month, then just click on this link to send the email requesting a subscription.
